Corpus Christi Procession 2016

Thanks to all who joined the 2016 Northeast Deanery Corpus Christi Procession on May 29, 2016.  It was a beautiful witness to the community of the real presence of Jesus in the Eucharist.  Everyone enjoyed fellowship and light refreshments at the Knights of Columbus Pavilion after the procession ended in the Old St. Ferdinand Shrine. Check out a brief video of the procession on our website.

Teachers Suggest Summer Learning Resources
We asked teachers from our for some suggestions to keep the learning fire lit over the summer months.  Here are a few options for you to consider:
  • St. Louis County Library Summer Reading Club - Miss Peggy from St. Rose says her 2nd graders really enjoy the "I Survived" series and "Fairy" books. When you create a summer reading club account you can also explore many activities at your local library throughout the summer.
  • GoNoodle is popular in many classrooms - did you know your child can also explore this activity website at home? Get moving with GoNoodle at
  • Island Chase Subtraction - Mrs. Heiligstein at BTC says her students love to race each other or against the computer in this game that offers great practice for subtraction facts!
  • Free Boeing Science Zone STEM Camp in partnership with Ferguson Florissant School District on Saturday, July 16 at McCluer South Berkeley High School for students ages 8-18.
What's your favorite summer activity to do with your kids? Send us an e-mail with your summer activity tips and we will share on our Federation of Catholic Schools Facebook Page.

Koch Foundation Grant to Help Fund Retreats for 2nd and 8th Grade Students
Students in 2nd and 8th grades at Federation schools can look forward to spending a day away from their classroom with fellow students from around the Northeast Deanery. That's because the Federation of Catholic Schools has received a grant from the Koch Foundation in support of student retreats in preparation for sacraments - Reconciliation, Eucharist and Confirmation.
On September 16, eighth grade students will gather for the 10th year in a row at Trinity Catholic High School for a day-long retreat and rally led by The Reap Team.  Deacon Bill Twellman from St. Norbert organizes this event each year, in coopration with Directors of Religious Education, principals and teachers from each school.
Then, on October 3, 17 and November 3, 2nd grade students will come together at Pallotine Renewal Center for a retreat led by the Sacred Heart Sisters. They will spend the day learning more about Jesus with age-appropriate activities.
We are grateful to The Koch Foundation for their support of these retreats, which help us evangelize the youth in our schools and parishes.

Spread the Word! Our Schools are
Enrolling for 2016-17!

Our schools continue to enroll new students for the 2016-17 school year. How can YOU help spread the good news and invite other families in North County to check out their neighborhood Catholic school?  Here are a few simple ideas to get you started:

  • "Like," "Follow," and "Share" your school and/or parish Facebook page and Twitter account.
  • is an easy-to-remember website address that will link people to a listing of all eight schools with a map of locations. The Federation also has a Facebook page and Twitter profile for you to follow.
  • Think about why you choose (or chose if you have alumni) a Catholic school for your children. Share your thoughts on social media or simply in conversation with friends and family members.
  • And, most importantly, PRAY for our students, teachers, principals, pastors, parishioners and all who support Catholic education in our community.
