School's Out for Summer! Now What?

Before our teachers checked out for a well-deserved summer break, they shared their favorite resources for keeping kids connected to learning. You can find them on our Federation website by clicking the graphic below. If you have any other resources you are using with your kids that you would like to share with other parents, please send them via e-mail and we will add them to the collection!

Federation of Catholic Schools Receives Beyond Sunday Academic Capacity Enhancement Grant to

create a Shared Technology Library

The Roman Catholic Foundation has awarded a $50,000 Beyond Sunday Academic Capacity Enhancement grant in support of our Catholic schools in North County through the Federation. Navigating the STREAM Together: A Shared Technology Library for North County Catholic Schools is a project that will enhance technology education at 7 elementary schools and Trinity Catholic High School. Technology coordinators and principals will use the grant funds to purchase a collection of tools and items in support of students as creators and designers, rather than merely users, of technology. These resources will be shared among all the schools, with a GlowForge Printer and 3D printing capabilities at the STREAM Lab at Trinity Catholic High School. The hope is that middles school students will have field trip visits to explore Trinity's STREAM lab and encourage their curiosity and interest in STREAM courses in high school. The principals and faculty of our schools are so grateful to the Roman Catholic Foundation for their continued support of our collaborative efforts. If you would like to read more about the project, click here to download a one-page summary. Stay tuned for more details about the exciting technology tools our students and teachers will have access to through this shared library collection!

This is the fourth consecutive year that our deanery has benefited from Beyond Sunday Grants. Schools are still utilizing the Chromebooks that were funded through our first Beyond Sunday grant recieved in 2017-18. In fact, the equipment and professional development from that grant gave our schools a head start when faced with the sudden switch to distance learning this spring - an outcome of the grant that we could never have predicted. In addition, many of our Catholic students receive Beyond Sunday scholarships to assist with elementary and secondary tuition. THANK YOU also to everyone in our north county parishes who have generously supported the Beyond Sunday campaign - you are making a difference!

HELP US SHARE THE GOOD NEWS!

Now Enrolling 2020

Although we currently cannot provide in-person tours and shadowing, all of our Catholic schools in North County are eager to welcome new families who are seeking an excellent education rooted in gospel values. Please share with your neighbors and friends that the time to enroll for the 2020-21 school year is NOW! Contact information for each school can be found at www.federationofcatholicschools.org

Would you recommend your Catholic school to other families?  While we can't invite prospective families in to our school buildings for tours and shadow days right now, we can still share the good news about our schools with the community! Please let us know what you would say about your school to a family looking at options for educating their child.  Or, better yet, take a video of yourself saying this message.

Share a video testimonial:

Keeping the Faith Alive!
Our parishes and schools continue to pray together though physically apart.  Even as Masses are now open to the public under strict health and safety guidelines, our pastors understand that some are not yet able or ready to return.  Most will continue livestreaming daily or weekly Mass and other devotions. Diversity Theme (1)

Planning for Diversity & Inclusion Continues
Core Teams at each of our schools continue to work on plans to be implemented in the coming year.  Thanks to the generous Beyond Sunday Grant received from the Roman Catholic Foundation, Dr. Alice Prince continues to work with all principals and Core Teams as they write SMART goals in support of enhancing diversity and inclusion at each of our Catholic schools. Core Teams have identified specific areas where their school and parish will benefit from specific, achievable action plans that will support teachers, students and parents as they work to maintain a school culture that is safe and welcoming for all. Parents are invited to respond to a year-end survey on Diversity & Inclusion.  A presentation of the plans will be scheduled soon.
